My day started with a very cool Event which happened right in my living room! I watched people from over 124 countries participate by giving their voice to fight HIV/AIDS with Starbucks. Singing “All you need is love” and submitting a video to the Starbucks Love website. Starbucks (Red) Campaign is contributing money to the global fight against AIDS using various marketing campaigns, drink donations and in store purchases.

Tonight, CAPAIDS a great organization that Kate J and I support will be hosting their annual World Aids Day Fundraiser at the Annex Live.

The Canada Africa Partnership on AIDS (CAP AIDS) is a young Canadian charity focused on providing resources to the grassroots community-based organizations that are on the front lines in the battle against the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa
The CAP AIDS World AIDS Day (WAD) 2009 event will be an exciting social evening featuring live Canadian and African musical performances, dance, food, drinks, prizes and a silent auction!

The charity that I support, CAPAIDS, is a potential beneficiary of the first ever Twestival Local Toronto (TwestivalTO). TwestivalTO is the local chapter of Twestival Global, a community-powered, Twitter-driven global charity event which raised over $250,000.00 for Charity:Water last February.

I am pleased to announce the launch of the Spring/Summer 2009 issue of Undercurrent: Canadian Undergraduate Journal of Development Studies.
In this issue of Undercurrent, Sarah Hamdi (McGill University) writes about the motivations of each activist group in the movement to “Save Darfur”.  Emily Jansons (Queen’s University) reviews author Lisa Lindsay’s book Working With Gender and Marie-Hélène L’Heureux (University of Ottawa) contributes a French-language look at power relations between non-governmental organizations in Senegal.  Kayleigh MacSwain (Dalhousie University) takes on debates within eco-feminism and also provides the cover photo for this issue. …
