Just Launched: Undercurrent Volume 6, Issue 1 - Spring/Summer 2009
I am pleased to announce the launch of the Spring/Summer 2009 issue of Undercurrent: Canadian Undergraduate Journal of Development Studies.
In this issue of Undercurrent, Sarah Hamdi (McGill University) writes about the motivations of each activist group in the movement to “Save Darfur”. Emily Jansons (Queen’s University) reviews author Lisa Lindsay’s book Working With Gender and Marie-Hélène L’Heureux (University of Ottawa) contributes a French-language look at power relations between non-governmental organizations in Senegal. Kayleigh MacSwain (Dalhousie University) takes on debates within eco-feminism and also provides the cover photo for this issue. Joëlle Pastora Sala (University of Winnipeg) examines the implications of gang violence in Nicaragua and Morgan Wheaton (University of Toronto) proposes policy for economic sustainability in Kerala, India. Heather Sheppard (University of Guelph) provides the closing image of church-based condom distribution in Kenya.
